nice write-up! i always thought it was best to steam the milk then brew to max espresso freshness. i also guess that having a grinder w/ a doser wld be advantageous here given you can grind for 6 shots as you are getting ready to pull your 1st. but that napoletana sure is a beauty ;-) toto

I just finished a party with around 160 shots in a 4 hour period. It took a lot of planning - grinding larger amounts of coffee for several shots at a time. I have a Tea so I don't have the same problems that some of the machines have in regards to number of shots pulled repetively. What I did have to do was think the evening through and have a plan to get the high number of shots moved through along with the frothing. I pull the shots first because, while they lose heat, you will be adding hot frothed milk in amounts large enough to compensate.
I was really tired after the party. What with pulloing shots, frothing and washing cups, I got a feel for what a professional barista goes through. The satisfaction really came out when my guests smiled and "ahhhed" on their first shot - then came back for 7 -8 more!
Again, thanks for reminding us that proper planning - even for a small number of shots - increases the "pleasure" factor a whole bunch.

Nice one Alan, It all looks very familiar. Even down to the meridionale! I tell my guests that they are having short blacks 'cause I am a lazy ....so and so. Maybe its just because I don't have a big jug! Nice one.

If you use a glass jug for the coffe you can save a few minutes by preheating the milk in the microwave while pulling the shots. Personally, I froth the milf first, then pull the coffees, as the froth probably keeps the heat of the milk in better than the crema on the shots.
