It's funny but I just went through a very similar process when searching for my home blend (see alt.coffee). I love the Brazil/Java combination (Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi(?)). I ended up adding either Indian Malabar for a more pungent espresso or the fantastic Uganda Bughisu for "pure chocolate".

I rad this article a month or two ago and it'd only now that I'm trying to consostantly roast my own blend that I appreciate this article. Thanks Alan for a well thought out and written article.
