Thomas Gauperaa sits down and has an interview with Eirik Johnsen, the Norwegian Barista champ, and third place in this year's World Barista Championship. Johnsen was interviewed in March, before the WBC.

Great article Thomas. I particularly liked the nature of your questions, which probe the rationale and motivations behind the craft. I can honestly state that I'm a bit envious of the Norwegian espresso scene compared to what I see in the New York City area. We have yet to see any widespread focus on quality and consistency and more worrisome (and a major factor in the problem) is the failure to properly compensate barsitas and provide career development paths. I look forward to seeing more articles from you in the future!
