I mentioned to the guy in the Bravo booth that one of his machines looked a lot like a Wega MiniNova. He explained that In The Beginning, there was just one company. Now, the son runs Bravo, the daughter runs Astoria, and an old friend of the family runs Wega. Seems both reasonable and Italian.

I hear ya David... I was only being tongue in cheek with the rebranding comments, which is why it was in the image description. Still, if they are at different price points, (not saying they are), I might be a bit more concerned about it. But it's definitely not like the situation where Krups might rebrand a capresso, who rebrands a jura, who rebrands an Eldon or something like that (and adds consumer cost along each step - the C3000 is a prime example of this - with the Euro version by Jura being $1400, and the US Capresso version at $2400).

I agree! Since I am a lowly "home roaster" they gave me looks of "whay are YOU here." I raided the Costa Rica area, they were really cool people. I also sampled all their coffee's there... loved the tres rios...

Enjoyed your article---wish I could've been there. However I did get to go to the left coast, to Seattle, to ESI for training, on the 7th, 8th, and 9th. On Wednesday, all the ESI folks who had been at the SCAA were getting back to work. I got to meet Joe Monaghan, and asked him about the SCAA---he said it was a great show, he met some of the Alt.Coffee folks, and he finally got to meet Mark Prince.
