Already said above, & every single altie I'm sure, would love to be at a show like this,if we could afford it. Why don't they have something in between (in size)this trade show & something smaller. I think there's only Coffeefest. Great article & show pictures Mark!!!

I don't work in the coffee industry but trade shows are all the same. My experience with trade shows is that the smaller ones usually don't have sufficient drawing power to ensure all the "big boys" show up. Then the buyers don't show up, then even more manufacturers don't show and so on.
From a manufacturers standpoint, it costs a tremendous amount of money and energy to get to a trade show. They only do it to sell stuff, and hopefully lots of it. I really can't blame anyone for hating trade shows, I know I do. There is a tremendous pressure to get stuff bought and sold. It's kid-at-christmas stuff for the enthusiasts, but for people looking to write orders, it's hell.

Hrmm, well, SCAA is in Boston next year, not too far from NYC by train or plane. Check the www.coffeefest.com site for shows they do, but they pale compared to SCAA or the NRA (not the gun people - the restaurateurs association) show. Or the Gourmet Food Show.
