About the cup handling...
Come on, I am left handed too, and I think that it says something about the barista that they have enough foresight that they don't hold onto the handle and make the latte art upside down. The people who do this are thinking about the customer, and to penalize them because some big lipped person might touch the same ceramic as the baristas hands is just inane bullshit.
When judges start marking down barista because of this, is the day that competitions really need to be overhauled.
As for me, I'll continue to palm cappas and macch's anytime you come in my shop.

Great having had you here in Switzerland for a visit! But it looks like you missed Adriano's in Bern - right in the center of the city (www.adrianos.ch). Otherwise you wouldn't have written coffee was not too good in Bern...
BTW: Bern is the German and Berne the French spelling.

Grüzi wohl! Nice to see the Swiss contingent checking in.
The best espresso I’ve ever had here in Bern has been mild and inoffensive with a tan crema on top. Not horrible or anything – at best it’s the coffee equivalent of decent table wine. My guess is that the coffee fans that traveled all the way to Bern for the WBC were looking for something with a lot more pizzazz.
I enjoy Adriano’s fresh roasted beans but I prefer the shots I pull myself to what I get at their cafe. On the other hand having the combination of Adriano’s, Lorenzini and Kornhauscafé as neighbors was enough to drive one of Bern’s two Starbucks out of business and that ain't bad.
