As the judges training goes into high gear, Mark Prince gives a pre-show report (sans speculation about competitors, cuz it wouldn't be right) from Bern and the WBC.

Hey guys,
Just thought that I should let y'all know that Dave has had some coffee air freighted up and will be OK. I'm not sure whether it's the exact coffee that he wanted to use, but it's at least something that he is familiar with. Peter Wolff, Dave's roaster, posted the following:
Well all that can be done is done... David has finished final offical practice session.. coffee has been jetted and we have locked in our blend. We are reday to go for tomorrow morning.
And Dave followed up with:
final practice yesterday went well glad we seperated our two part roast as the temp on machines slightly higher than what we had trained on so a slight increase in one roast profile and the coffee blend is good to go.
... so crisis averted!
Morals of the story: (a) hotel staff pry and (b) if you must drink coffee from a Superauto, buy it from Veneziano!

Mark, You're so right - so many things other than the coffee, the brewer the tamp, temp, etc. have a tremendous effect on the experience of coffee. What a lovely story about your best cuppa.
