David Schomer is an espresso perfectionist who has been seeking the perfect brewing temperatures and ways to maintain them in espresso machines for a decade or longer. His search may be over.

The water temerature at the top of the espresso puck is slightly higher compared to the water temperature at the bottom of the espresso puck. This difference is 4F on my Rancillio Audrey home model. How much on your PID expresso machine? How does that temperature drop affect the espresso taste? Anything that can be done about it?

Uhm. Is it TRUEH or TREUH? And of course, the last couple of questions.
We'd been wanting to try and get an LM Linea for our future coffee house, but perhaps we should rethink. If only I was still into design, I'd offer 'em a website just so we could get more info out on 'em!

Doh, my bad. I was waffling in the editing between allcaps TRUEH or capitalized Trueh, and went with the former; I screwed up the spelling in my search and replace in word :)
It's TRUEH. :) I have no idea on pricing or availability. I'm hoping David will sign up for a CoffeeGeek Forums account so he can reply directly. Otherwise, contact him thru his website, espressovivace.com.

What a beautiful machine. The aesthetics alone remind me of the airfoil of a sprint car. I'd guess that the cost of one of these machines is somewhere in the stratosphere though. Hopefully the design and controls will filter down into the next designs of other commercial machines. We can only hope that espresso in america will improve. Sad to have to go home to get a decent espresso. Ed Needham ed_at_homeroaster_dot_com

Even though I'm not still into design, I'd be more than happy to build them a world-class site, for the low price of one brand-new two-group machine, crated and freighted. If all they have is the 3-group model right now, I suppose I can live with that.
And that's more hyphens than you can shake a stick at.

Ugh. My (and David's) bad... it's definitely www.treuh.com
:)
Pricing may surprise some folks. The enterprising Andy Schecter got some info out of them. From alt.coffee, he wrote:
They won't have any machines available for several months. They plan to introduce 1, 2, and 3 groupers. He was understandably vague on price, but it sounded like the 1 group (perfect home machine <g>) will go for $4-5000.

This was a very interesting article to me...
I have always fought the urge to be an engineer outside of work...but this made me want to get into the tinkering phase with espresso machines...
I totally could see myself in 5 years buying and refurbishing a 1-3 group LM....
damn... I may be losing my evil genius......
must fight the urge to engineer....
I like the design of the TR-H... however you spell it...
I like the idea of PIDing an already awesome machine....
This article has sold me on David and I am definitely going to try one of his roasts.... I had been resisting because i don't know... everyone loves Vivace.... so I love STUMPTOWN.. support the underdog Babee......
DOM...evil genius ...Up to no good in espresso at all times... VIVA la parts de Espresso
