mark...everyone looks Happy! Hopefully, that feeling will last. I know these things can stretch the patience of vendors, as many of us non-pro's use all our guile to scarf up as much free info and advice from these folks. Truth is, if I were there, I'd do likewise. Hope all attending have a great time. It's lonely here in Brentwood, TN

I had a fun time checking out the trade show. My first SCAA show. I learned a few things. Everyone I talked to seemed nice and did not seem to mind that I was not in the trade. I saw Mark intrviewing people at the Barista Championship. I considered saying hello but, Mark was quite focused on his task and I was tired and on my way out.

Hi Shane - feel free to say hi, I don't mind! I'm not sure what time it took place at, but I do remember doing a few pretty intense discussions while standing close to the area around the USBC, but nothing that couldn't be interrupted for a minute or two!

I would have stopped you, but you were busy taking notes and I turned to look at Barista guild booth and when I looked again you were headed off in another direction. I noticed you at the USBC because you were snapping photos. I am also into photography and I have a habit of noticing people with cameras. Oh well, I only was at the convention Friday eve and Saturday. I headed back up north Saturday evening.

Just a question...who gave you the information that this Elektra grinder was the official grinder for the Australia Barista Championships? It wasn't. The sponsored machines were FB80s and Compak K10 WBC grinders.
I actually have this grinder sitting in a box in the technical service room at work waiting for Elektra to pick it up. It's been in a box for the last 3 weeks. I find the steps too big. Even though the portafilter holder is adjustable, does not accept a LM handle easily without the grinder sounding like a JACKHAMMER. It's a great grinder, for example; the chute is nice and clean, however this grinder has too many short comings for my liking. My impressions have already been passed on to the Australian Elektra sales rep. I was even encouraged by Elektra to pull the grinder apart and have a look inside. It has MASSIVE BURRS and a 1 HP motor???!!!! The fan is massive....and it's no surprise this thing weighs well more than a Robur. I'd like to see some improvements and be able to test it.
