Anyone has idea whether the Europe version of Oscar was revamped too
Just the outer case I think. The Pstat is still the same and it is still shipped with only one PF handle. On the other hand, the price is lower than in the US.

I don't mind the fact that only one portafilter is included -- I would probably buy a second LM one anyway (I hope it will fit the Oscar group well) -- but what about the pressurestat? Is the European one as faulty as the one used in older US Oscars?
When you first unpack an Oscar, you notice a massive sticker on the top warming plate with a big notice about the procedure you need to follow each time you turn the machine on. Basically, you have to open the steam wand when you turn the machine on so that the boiler can equalize pressure, and be accurate in its pressure readings while heating up. If you don't do this, the boiler will have a false pressure reading, and will not be hot enough to produce steam or brew espresso at the right temperatures... suffice to say, you either always leave the Oscar on, or remember to do this everytime you power it on - so plug timers are not an option with this machine.
He's correct and we've heard from a number of our customers looking for an answer. So we developed a vacuum breaker kit for the Nuova Simonelli Oscar, which eliminates the need to open the steam wand when you first turn on the machine and allows the use of timers.

I was in the midst of evaluating the Oscar, V1, when NS was way overdue on paying an advertising bill. Repeated notices via email and phone were first ignored, then the bill was disputed. My only recourse was to sell the machine they supplied, prior to doing the Detailed Review, to recoup a portion of the monies they owed the website.
The review was cancelled because of this.
Last fall, NS contacted me and issued major apologies for their actions. We came to an understanding. They paid the delinquent bill, and even prepaid for new advertising. They also asked if I would reconsider revieiwing the Oscar, this time with the new pressurestat. In the early spring, I got the new machine, and while I haven't had time to give it any real evaluation yet, soon, the First Look will be revamped, and by September (hopefully), I'll have a DR published.

Okay, I'll be the nag...
Any idea when the detailed review will be coming on the Oscar???
My limited experience with a friend's new version of this machine made it apparent that the revised Oscar really is an amazing machine for the dollar. The shots it makes once the grind is dialed in were excellent and its steaming performance puts many machines that sell for twice the Oscar's street price to shame.

ill help nagging here, Mark you hve an awesome site and podcast, but the thing im missing right now, is a detailed review of this plastic baby :-D
You might ask why we want YOUR oppinion, well that is because you have started a review on it and we appreciate your reviews so much, not that it is everything, but you covers things some people might not notice and you got the knowledge to point out a lot of things to us.
And for the poeple wanting to know it, the pressure stat in Europe is the old one, but you can for an extra fee get the new one, but since it is suppossed to be a 110V problem only you wont need it (at least what i have read on the forum), except that it is nice to have a top class pressure stat ;-)
