There I relate experience with earlier glass vacpots and discuss the advantages of the FULLY AUTOMATIC and durable Coffeemaster.
Your readers' messagages indicate that filters are a hot topic in the vacpot world. I find the late model Sunbeam stainless filter sets are reasonably satisfactory, but can very easily be improved upon by making home-made inserts from standard filter papers. The brewed clarity is almost perfect through the addition of one layer of paper filter between the two regular stainless filter disks. My wife uses two paper layers, claiming still more clarity. We developed a folding method for one sheet of Chemex square filter paper that results in nine cut- out circles of the right size for the Coffeemaster. (I now make this process straightforward by bandsawing stacks of the folded filters--eventually making a jig to automate further.)

All I can say is that Gillies, the oldest continually operating coffee roaster in the USA, doesn't NEED a shill. They operate in Noo Joissey (Don Schoenholt told me so himself) and the families concerned represent more collected coffee wisdom than just about any other coffee resource in the world.
Don himself (i840coffee) is exquisitely courteous in both his online and face-to-face personas, and would never condone this sort of spamming, which really makes me wonder why this idiot is doing it. Note that Don has been online longer than some forum participants have been out of diapers!

I dropped Mark a note. The article on the siphon tipped me over the edge and now I own the 5-cup Yama. I snagged a Cory rod off eBay and couldn't be more pleased with the cup. Superbly clean cup that has an ability to take a characteristic of the coffee and hold it up on a pedestal; really accentuates the finer aspects of an origin.
What's working for me?
45 grams of brown
Grind just a tad finer than pourover
22 oz of Wisconsin spring water
7 out of 10 on an electric stove
Cloth filter and Cory rod both bringing home the bacon
Coffee goes in co-incidental to the visible steam (about 10 seconds before the whoosh coming North)
Turn burner down to 3.5 out of 10 for a 2 minute steep on the heat, pull off the burner 35-40 draw down
Cloth filter rinsing under very hot water, with a grouphead brush - toss filter in a cup of water in the fridge

I have never heard of this unit. The metal brewing vessel should prove to be much superior to the fragile glass types. Increased durability is one important reason I chose the old Sunbeam Coffeemasters over glass vacpots. The other is automatic operation. For more, see my review of the C50 model at
The Avocado Alice is right off the Honeymooners. The northern globe isn't metal but rather a hard plastic. I have it boxed up and will find the right occasion to usher it into the world of coffee making instead of dust collecting.
