You mentioned that doing the podcast was great, however the editing seems to have caused you more stress. This un-edited podcast (and Im about 1/2 way through, is fantastic! No need to edit. I enjoy the honesty that the occasional "um" or what-have-you rings to the mix.

As someone that also listened to the pf.net podcasts, I don't think your podcast went long or felt sloppy ,because you didn't edit, at all. Just get em out to your eager fans please! To hear the coffeegeek himself admit that he uses coffee, even just occassionally, as a caffeine delivery device is, to be honest, shocking. You get the finest coffees out there for free! I would like to think that if I had that privilage, I'd feel obligated to enjoy my coffee every time. Maybe I'm over reacting. But that was shocking.

LOL! Well, coffee is always almost always a sensory experience for me, but when I'm travelling, or visiting family back east, or what have you, sometimes, I just need to get up and go :D
Mind you, I didn't say I enjoyed the commodity coffee. It is, at those times, a tool :)

Thanks for another terrific podcast, Mark. Your efforts at making my long morning drive way more interesting that usual are truly appreciated!
I didn't fine the "raw" podcast to be a problem at all. Speaking for myself (and hopefully a lot of others), I'm thoroughly willing trade the perfectly edited broadcast in exchange for more frequent ones. You did say you could pump out one every week, right?! ;)

Hey Mark,
The COE Barista program sounds great though it's just in the womb. More and more I'm falling in love with the fact that this industry links people from all over the world. At the same time though, there's a disconnect that cannot be avoided unless there are opportunities to go and meet farmers and producers, see the harvest, and experience origin.
I'm finding that with me competing, I'm getting asked a lot of questions from customers about the competition format, but also why compete? Why become a professional barista? What does that mean exactly?
Programs like this potential COE barista program could be a stepping stone for further education of cupping skills (we can't all go to an SCAA course) and it could further professional and personal development for baristas, not to mention form and strengthen bonds between the people farming the coffee and the people preparing the cup for the customer.
If the price was affordable ($60CDN/yr maybe?) and there was some sort of regular communication (newsletter, forum, course offerings) and it was accessible to many cities in many countries, I'm sure it would be a success :)

Please Mark, you are very good at articulating yourself and the "raw" podcast was great. I'm begging you, skip editing and put out more podcasts. I was a "newbie" about 1-1/2 years ago. I learned most of what I know about coffee from your podcasts. I would listen to you day after day as I started from the begining and listened through each and every podcast you had out. I felt like I had made a friend. When I was done, I waited eagerly for the next one. Every day I would check and the podcast would not be there. Mark Prince has just vanished from my life. I lost my friend. And then you came. But it was just a tease for you left again, for a long time. Please, stop teasing us Mark Prince, give to us raw, give it to us now!

Mark...thanks again for a wonderful podcast. Just ordered the Kenyan from Batdorf & Bronson. Here's my 2 cents...skip out the editing process man! The quality was still great and I'd much rather get more podcasts than edited ones. Editing sucks anyway.
