Yeah, some of us had heard about this Chantico, aka, "a liquid heart attack" by some, here earlier (can't find the link.) A co-worker of mine said that the SBUX across the street from my office was giving out free samples on the other day.

I happened to catch a little segment of Fine Living on the cable, and it was showcasing City Bakery in NYC, with its famous hot chocolate and its homemade marshmallow.  I gotta say, those HC are thick, like lava!

It's high-end hot chocolate. Very rich and heavy. I've tried it and it's kind of like drinking a melted cholocate bar. Very much a 'love it or hate it' beverage.

My mom told me about "European Hot Chocolate" she had in either Germany or Hungary.  This sounds exactly like what she was talking about.

It must be pretty tasty (it has 21 grams of fat in a 6 oz serving).

It has 390 calories in 6oz.  I hear that it is made from melted cocoa butter, cocoa, and whole milk.  Definitely not something you want to drink everyday.

I went to have one tonight.  It wasn't anything phenominal.  Just double, maybe triple, the amount of chocolate, or halve or third the amount of milk you put in, and there ya go.  In other words, it's a strong hot chocolate, made with dark chocolate.

On another note, their "Black Apron Special" is Aged Sumatra, from 1998 (7 years old!)

Anyone see the film 'Chocolat' starring Juliette Binoche ?
She makes a thick chocolate drink spiced with chili, interesting but I haven't been brave enough to attempt one yet.

Actually I had done a quick research about chocolate.  I remember there was a recipe calls for bittersweet chocolate, Dutch processed cocoa powder, water, and sugar, with no milk at all.  The author of the book says that it is the best way to taste the chocolate.  There are chocolate purists making fun of Hershey’s like we make fun of instant coffee.
