Besides desecrating the 80's ska classic "Our House",  the ads seem to call into question the masculinity of those who drink specialty coffee. The line "we're not a frilly coffee house" implies that only a girlie man or metrosexual would drink anything other than "good to the last drop" Maxwell House.  But the irony of having  he-man firefighters SINGING about the butchness of their brand of coffee in a TV ad seems to have been lost  on the creators of this campaign.

The song should have included a line about exactly how much chaff content there is in a can of Maxwell House. But do Maxwell House drinkers even know what chaff is?

Metrosexuals know better than to drink MH. On the other hand, although butch he-man firefighters drink anything they wish, perhaps their palates have been ruined by smoke to the point where MH might seem OK.

I hate that campaign. I guess I really am a snob. What the hell does "deliciously ground" mean anyways?

I dislike commercials in general, most make me feel like an idiot if I were to trust them.  I work in the safety industry with firefighters, they call their inhouse coffee, "sludge".  My husband is Military and takes his press to work with fresh ground beans, but has to hide it because people try to steal it! Mostly I think some people just don't know any better.  Personally, we try to educate as many as we can, some just don't wish to learn.

My dad always like the Folgers coffee commerical. The one with the old lady. My dad said she played a russian spy in all the old movies and thought why would they use her, A russian spy to sell coffee. I guess that goes with the actor who was in the "I'm a Pepper" commericals, then lost the contract when he did 'American Werewolf in London"....

Well, they seem to have their target market down right : people who "drink gallons of it", don't know any better, don't want to know any better ... especially that per pound they often pay more than fresher non-ground beans.

Its a nasty add but somehow irritates me less than the Nabob ones.

Maybe Maxwell House can take a page from Dennis Leary and advertise that they sell coffee flavored coffee.

Really hate to bring back such an old thread - but it seems to fit here better than starting a new one.

Has anyone seen their latest commercial?

The one where a guy comes into a restaurant, and confronts a couple seated at a table -- then goes on a tirade about how he doesn't want a "plunger" (french press) near his coffee?

Drives me crazy everytime I see it.  Tried to find a video, with no luck. Found a couple of blog rants about it - but not the actual commercial. ..
