What would you like to discuss about regarding Kopi Luwak in particular? The theory goes that the luwaks can smell the ripeness of the coffee cherries and eats the best of the cherries at the optimum time when they should be picked. Their diet is solely the coffee cherries and their stomach processes the skin and flesh of the cherries leaving only the seeds which gets excreted out in a neat compacted log form. These are then picked up and carefully washed and you have the green beans or kopi luwak. Unfortunately what I've seen are pre-roasted and pre-ground with no roasting date, so no matter how "nice" the beans are, pre-ground means stale coffee and who knows how long ago it was roasted.
Another problem with kopi luwak in this day and age, due to the opportunists capitalizing on this exclusive market, the farmers cage these animals in small cages and force feed them cherries thereby eliminating any selective choosing from the luwak. Therefore unless you can guarantee what you bought is kopi luwak from the wild, you've essentially purchased regular and likely poor coffee beans that came out of an animal's behind.
No offense to your country, and I also don't blame the people. An opportunity, is an opportunity and knowing the socioeconomic problems in Indonesia, it is a natural progression.
I have not tasted kopi-luwak but the theory is interesting. If I can be guaranteed the real kopi-luwak I might give it a try.
True enough. And we generally delete most conversations on the topic.
Over 95% of all "Kopi Luwak" sold today is faked, and even the authentic stuff is generally low quality robusta. There's also the issue of mistreatment of the animals as already mentioned.
So we delete posts from anyone who offers to sell or source it (or posts rave reviews, stealth advertising, etc.) and in many cases those members have the user accounts terminated as well.
Because of the negatives and high spam content potential we have a very low tolerance for this topic here.

I think that this type of coffe is much like a human pyramid.
I've seen a human pyramid once. It was very unnecessary.
Just trying to think of the first person to see this and decide that this would be an interesting thing to do. I'm pretty curious, but it would NEVER occur to me to collect a raccoon-like creatures's droppings, wash them to obtain the undigested seeds, and do ANYTHING with them other than throw them away. LOL
