Spotting an article in the late lamented ac for the Quicksteps Turbofilter http://youtu.be/Rn71yiAhuUI The inventor uses the steam wand to infuse the ground coffee.
Unfortunately my Omega t/c is hard wired into my Zaff's boiler, otherwise I'd check it myself. Does anyone know what's the exit steam temp? Too hot for filter/presspot?

In the video you've posted, he uses the hot water wand, not the steam wand, to add water to the coffee. Steam wands are capable of temperatures a bit over 200 F, depending on machine. Water wands are more in the 200 range, though that is again dependent upon machine specifics.

Oops! Thanks Steve, I may have been influenced by the name 'Turbofilter'. I should have researched further and found that most HX and Twins are equipped with a spiggot.

It is an interesting toy but I am not sure of the value of it though, I am sure it works just fine and I can not see why it shouldn't work but I don't like french press coffee due to the sludge in the bottom of the cup and I can see that sludge will be an issue with this too. If I am wrong, oh well but I don't see how making an Americano is all that much harder since you need an espresso machine and you need to grind for espresso, why not just make espresso?

I nearly gave up on Press pots, having broken three glass ones. I was using 12g but still found it under-strength. Then I read Mark P's Guide & How Tos and bought chopsticks to sink the floating slurry and invested in a s/s double-wall press.
His comment "Personally, as someone who cups coffee, I don't mind a bit o' sludge and grit in my cup" - encouraged me to grind finer. I'm now getting a nice smooth cup from 11g and 4 minutes infuse with 4 oz water. I have to agree with him - sludge rools ok.
