Thanks for the recipe. We'll be *doin"* the Trinidad nog on New Years eve! BTW, Trinidadians sure know how to party while eating, that Black Cake recipe on the same site, piqued my interest. A bottle of rum AND a bottle of cherry brandy, Whoa! Have a great New Year's and take care!

Yup, we have black cake here, too. When my mother-in-law makes it, she stretches out the "soaking the cake with rum" part over several weeks, swinging by to give the cake a splash every so often. Good times.
Possibly related: T&T's Carnival is second only to Brazil's, from what I hear (haven't experienced the latter).
