I am interested in getting some Hawaiian Kona and Maui Coffees. I noticed this web site, prices seemed good and free shipping for more than 4 lbs.
Thanks,
Gail

I do not know anything much about Maui Coffee Roasters other than it is on the island of Maui.  But if you want Kona Coffee, I suggest you buy it from some one in Kona on Hawaii island.  At least the Kona Coffee is still where it grows and might just be fresher.  Just my $.02

Any responsible local roaster will have pure Kona coffee beans. The roasters buy 125# sacks, sample roast the product, cup the sample roasts and then batch roast. Kona beans from your local roaster will be much fresher than beans roasted in Hawaii and then shipped to the states over a 5-10 day timeline.

Also, many people that claim they are buying "Kona" coffee at a good price and receiving "free shipping" may be actually getting a Kona blend rather than pure Kona. I ship over 30 packages a day from my business and believe me, there is no such thing as :free shipping". It is worked into the price somewhere, somehow either by higher retail pricing or a lower grade (blended) product.

Start a relationship with a local roaster and he will steer you in the right direction.

FYI......You should not have to pay more than $16.00-$19.00 per pound for pure Kona with wholesale pricing for roasted beand around $14.25 per pound.

Thanks Steve.
I am waiting on delivery of my Z&D roaster.  I need to find a good supplier for green Kona beans.
I am interested in finding other green beans that have a similar taste. I really like the taste of a light- medium and sweet (chocolate)
coffee.

I just ordered from Smith Farms.  Green beans are $11/lb plus shipping.  The people who own it are super-nice.  Great customer service.  I've had luck growing parchment wrapped beans which I requested from them, too.  They threw them in for no extra charge.

...and on that note, I need a coffee.

I'll 2nd that Becky!! Cea & Bob Smith's Kona is the best Kona I've ever had the pleasure of drinking!!! {:-D

Ever since I've known about Smithfarms due to Mark P's postings back around Nov 2000 on the alt.coffee newsgroup, the prices have been/remained the same too!! {:-)

I just returned from a trip to Hawaii, and I brought home a half-pound of 100% Kona, Sunbean estate, full city roast from The Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa. Great tasting coffee -- the roaster there (last name Alvarez, I forget his first name) is very passionate about coffee, and roasts new batches every day. His prices are quite reasonable for what I understand Kona goes for on the mainland. Check it out.

Hello, Gail.

My wholesale roaster in S. San Francisco sells green beans. They have a 5 pound minimum but your green beans, stored in a cool, dark location, will keep for a long, long time.

You may contact:

Mountanos Brothers Coffee @ (800)624-7031

The roaster that I used for my espresso blends roasts all of his coffee over oak wood.
Contact:
Mr. Espresso in Oakland, California.

Both companies have web-sites.
