Subject: Whirley-Popped beans slow to grind?

I'm roasting Espresso Vivace's green blend, and when I roast in the air popper, I can grind (Solis Maestro - original) the beans for a double filter basket in about 30 seconds.  But when I roast with the Whirley-Pop, it takes like 2 minutes, and I have to manually force the beans down into the burrs, the burrs heat up, and little square pellets of ground coffee drop into the "coffee-catcher-plastic-basket-thingy".

The WP doesn't roast as evenly as the air popper, and with both methods I roast just into the second crack 10-15 seconds.

What is going on here?
