Hello all!

I've been lurking for months and learned tons here, so I figured it's time to say Hi.  Thanks to many people on this forum, I'm now enjoying coffee the likes of which I hadn't  had since $ bought out The Coffee Connection.

I'm using a PI with a two variacs (for the heater and the fan) and a K-type thermometer.  This setup is working great and I've succeeded with up to half pound batches, plus I can alter the profile for different types of coffee.  I also found a GG convection oven at a thrift store for $10 so I'll probably try that out when I find a stir crazy. I'm in no hurry though.

Again, a big thanks to CG and everyone here!

Ken:

Welcome to the Forums!!!

Glad to see you jumped in with both feet

I started off with a P2 unmodded and now am using a GG/SC. It is amazing.

Welcome to the Forums.

If you ever want to purchase some  coffee like The Coffee Connection then you should check out Terroir Coffee.( www.terroircoffee.com ) George Howell, founder of The Coffee Connections started this company, and he has taken coffee to the next level. Noel, a roaster from TCC is his roaster. As much as I enjoy roasting my own, I do not approach their quality!

Liftoff, while I'm sure the images are of your business roasting setup I'm still turning green!  Are those Ambex's?  How do you like them?

Darryl, yes they are both Ambex roasters. A 2k for sample roasting and the 10k for production. I really like these (Ambex) roasters. For me the control adjustments they utilize feel very intuitive with my style of roasting.

As far as homeroasting goes I'm going to attempt to add PID control to the "20 pound BBQ" roaster. I've been waiting for cooler weather.

Keep on roasting!

Kendo,

Welcome !! These folks are definitely the Crema of the home roasting world. I too used to buy my beans roasted and after reading this forum ordered my own roaster and I am now hooked. Enjoy the ride.
