Hey Craig, is Andrews Green Beans selling just to Canada, N.America, International or what?
Ian
Hey Ian,
I'm just a little guy here, a Coffeegeek, aficionado, coffee lover & coffee hobbyist who just got sick & tired of paying outrageous green bean prices here in Toronto, & ordering from the US is very expensive also, so I started, formed & licenced a sole proprietorship small P/T green bean co-op on July 8/03. This was to originally be for pick-up only, to keep prices @ the lowest possible price for customers, but that has changed. I started it all back on this posting here:*Toronto Area* alt.coffee community members
There's also been threads on alt.coffee about "Green beans in the Toronto Area", & a Google search on Google groups will turn up some info.
I'm doing this part time, (but who knows!) & list what & where/who I'm selling to here:My profile. I didn't say or list this very small P/T business run out of my house, as I thought that would possibly be a commercial posting & violate the Coffeegeek rules/ethics.
P.S. Those two cute twins that your holding must be quite the handful!! {;-D

Ian: I have dealt with Craig and he is doing us coffeeheads a big favor.I just bought some greens from him and they were all excellent.A wide selection to choose from and good prices.(better than the "other guys")If more people buy then the prices go down even further- right Craig? I guess the shipping would be the sticky wicket for you.Maybe you could find some other coffeegeeks and pool up and buy a full burlap bag! Would like to see that one.MMMMMMMM I find myself drinking more coffee and it is so good that I am talking about it all the time. I got hooked about the 1st of June /03 cuz the Folgers coffee was getting more bitter with every can. Now that I have fresh coffee everyone wants some.Something like homebrew. A buddy told me not to tell anyone that I make homemade beer and he was right.Same thing with roasting your own.

Hey Stewart, Thank you! for the gracious complements! I'm glad that you're enjoying the coffees!, $4/lb Canadian is my lowest price, that would be approximately $3.20US! That's the lowest I can go, & still make something for all my time & effort. {;-) I don't ship to the US, or yet so far.
P.S. I do now! Posted Thurs Sept 25/03 @ 1:07am. Also England, Canary Island's, anywhere! {:-D

Hey Craig, I meant to get back to you sooner than this but I got that XP blaster worm virus and just got round to sorting my machine out. I was just being curious as to what you were up to regarding greens.
I am getting reasonable results with the 2 sieves/strainers now that I have done about a dozen roasts, it's all seat of the pants stuff, no thermometers or anything and am getting to second crack in about 12/13 minutes - does this sound too long? Even with an 18" office fan perched on the kitchen window sill there is still plenty of smoke so it's definitely a summer only occupation. I keep thinking of Larry's suggestion of deliberately taking a roast to charcoal and I look across the room at all the smoke and I think nah!
A member of my family has a popper that they don't use much (don't know what model) which I am trying to persuade them to lend (ok give)me so I can retire to the relative peace of the garage.
Cheers
Ian
Twins update: I have to say the novelty is wearing a bit thin.

Hi Ian,
I hope you got that Blaster worm sorted out. {:-( Are you running a software firewall, &/or a virus scanner?? Also do you have the Window's IFC (Internet Firewall Connection) checkmarked/enabled?, through your Tcp/Ip Local Area Connection Status. Under the General tab click "Properties", then "Advanced" tab. It's not much, but at least it's there. I DID do the window's update back last July 27th, so I didn't have a problem.
I run Zone Alarm Pro 3, latest version 4.0.123.012 & a free virus scanner program Grisoft 6.0 @ this page here.On the Zone Alarm page,½ way down, right hand side of the page here, you can download Zone Alarm free, or the Zone Alarm Pro for a 30 day free trial also.
P.S. No Ian, to me, that time frame on top of the gas range doesn't sound to short, but what do I know?, like Stewart's saying below, it's to your taste. Cheers!

Ian: The question I have for you is "How does it taste"? If you are satisfied with the taste then the time sounds good. I have a West Bend Poppery II that I get about a 10 to 12 minute second crack roast. Most posts I have seen say about 5-6 minutes for my popper so "your mileage may vary" YMMV. I also have a West Bend I and it is only 1200 watts compared to the 1240 watts on the WB II, but it takes sometimes 18 minutes to bake the coffee and it is bad. Guess it will be a spare for parts. I am trying to locate some perforated stainless and will be making a bbq roaster with my 40,000 btu gas grill. Then I will learn about roast profiling. It seems you are learning lots without the thermometers and such.Flying by the seat of your pants has rewards- you can tell by sight, smell and sound where your roast is.These are, I am told, the true roasters indicators.

Yes thanks. It was pretty easy thanks to Symantec.

I am now. I upgraded a couple or three months ago and didn't transfer the Norton live update thing across. ( I can hear the computer bods tut tutting from here.)
I DID do the window's update back last July 27th, so I didn't have a problem.
I've been too busy/tired/lazy/oblivious. (Pick whichever.)
