I just found a store that is selling a Salton "UFO" popcorn popper - seems to be a Stir-Crazy clone. Is anyone familiar with this popper? Google reveals surprisingly little about the device's existance.
I didn't have a tape-measure handy, and they didn't have one out of the box, so I couldn't get a good look at the base's circumference, or if the stir-shaft was plastic or metal.
Anyone ever see one? More importantly - anyone ever use one for roasting???

Interesting. I don't know if I'd want to mess with it though, when all of the bugs have been worked out of modding the SC. I stood on the shoulders of pioneers when I modded mine and took me less than two hours with travel time to the hardware store.

DonTMan,
My thoughts exactly! That's whay I am polling the masses to see it there are any success stories out there with this popper. Case-in-point; if you open up certain Toastmaster poppers, they prove to be Poppery II machines simply re-labeled. Maybe this is a Stir-Crazy with a whacky blue suit!

Exactly - I wonder if a store clerck will let me peek (actually disassemble - gently) the stir arm to see what's underneath? I wouldn't be making any friends by yanking the thing apart, discovering a ton of plastic & walking away saying "thanks, but no thanks!" LOL

So, I got a little gutsy, returned to the store, & (with permission) unscrewed the hub that holds the stir arm in place. Underneath was a metal threaded axle. Does the real StirCrazy have a metal axel mounted on a plastic shaft, or is the fact that I saw metal a very good sign?

I searched Froogle and Ebay for "Salton UFO" and I'm not seeing this thing. Then I looked at the Salton store on their website and it's not there either.
So I assume this thing is no longer in production?
