Subject: Marijuana aroma?

I just started home roasting the other day with my Popcorn Pumper and I must say, the results have been fantastic!  I must admit, got a little giddy when I saw how much crema I was getting with my shots.
I roasted two small batches of Sumatra Mandheling on Saturday and yesterday, as I was preparing my latte(s), I noticed a very pleasant, familiar aroma as I was pulling my shots, but I couldn't really place where I had smelled it before.
Today at lunch, when I was preparing my afternoon fix, it dawned on me; the aroma smells like marijuana.  Not like smoke or stale bongwater, mind you, but like fluffy, green buds ("Uh, yes, I've tried it, but I, uh, did not inhale...").  It wasn't a very strong aroma; more just hints of it.  I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this aroma with their homeroasts or am I just mistaking it for something else, like sage, perhaps?
Obviously, this is one of the many pleasures of homeroasting.

I think you may be mistaking it with some other pleasant odor. In a previous life I was well acquainted with the smell you describe. If one could be said to have an olfactory soundtrack that played in the background for a significant number of years....   I was in that not so select group.

It has been a long time but nothing I've smelled in hoem roasting seems to similar.

I know exactly what you are talking about, and I have described it in the same way; its not pot smoke and its not dirty bong water, but a wild, sweet, earthy aroma.....

A few years ago I worked at Peets Coffee in Berkeley, we would brew coffee in batches of around 3/4 of a pound in an open top, shower type brewer. It only happened when we brewed "Arabian Mocha-Sanani," a faint but unmistakable smell of green bud.

Im wondering, if it is so easy to dismiss this observation as "an other smell," what is that other smell and how would you describe it in more "proper" terms?

Respectfully,
Wonder
