I've heard about this briefly, but not in detail; and, when my popper died mid roast and i bought a super turbo(lol) setup a week later, i had to finish the roast, of course. :)
the moka kadir was maybe just shy of FC when the popper died, and i continued the roast and let it sit. it was quite different, much more, well, rather, much less bright (if bright means it hits the roof of your mouth) than previous roasts.
has anyone played around with a double roast? any guidelines? do i stop before or after FC? how long should it sit prior to roasting again?

Hello. Double roasting is generally frowned upon by purists. However I did it once (kind of the same trouble you ran into). I was roasting a Bolivian. When I roasted it again, I roasted just until 2nd crack. MAN, the beans came out oily! And wouldn't you figure, everyone thought the coffee was excellent.
So much for the purists, I guess. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. I would go ahead and give it a try, just for fun. It may come out great.

Hi, I had a similar circumstance with Fluid Bed Roaster :- LPG....overlooked the gas bottle low level.[ Shut down ]
The roast had reached to Cinnamon shade, when it happened. Within minutes restarted the roast......the end result was quiet surprising! Cupped the coffee for the following 6 days, taking notes for each cupping. It progressively tasted woody, no aromatics, no body etc, etc... Eventually used it as garden compost!
