So I decided to try home roasting. Im using the "pop corn" method and i have to say its SO fun. Since this is my first time i have to wait a day or two to brew it but man it was fun just attempting

can't wait to try popcorn method, too! ordered a whirley-pop from SM, should be here next week.
i did FrenchRoast for a start, then moved on to pan roasting when my FR's roasting chamber broke. pan roasting rocks, too! can easily roast half a pound of beans.
but i can see that the popcorn method is much easier, much less work.

Welcome. I'm in the same boat with you. I just bought the Kitchen Gourmet popper from Walgreens ($8... what a steal), and am just waiting for my beans to arive from SM. I'll probably be roasting in the next week or 2. Can't wait to try my first batch!

Hi, I just had my whirley-pop delivered too!
I have ordered a meat thermometer and when that arrives I am going to order the beans.
One thing I am worried about is that I have a solid plate electric stove and it's quite hard to control the temperature. The plates take a long time to warm up but also a long time to cool down if you have to adjust the heat.

I know i have written about my roast but thats because i've been a little too busy drinking it. WOW. Fresh roasted coffee is the best. The steps i took.
1: The coffee i have is columbian ( dont know the brand sorry. I got it from a local wholesaler who heard i was trying a home roast and thrust this one on me). 2: I used the little measuring cup that came with my popper and i throw the beans in. 3: Stir, stir, stir. 4: The stuff starts flying off and i just sit back and enjoy the day. 5: I take the beans out after 6 or 7 beans go into their "second" crack. 6: toss in colander and after they cool they go into an airtight container. 7: Time for grind and then a great experience the next morning.
