I'm new to this forum and am looking for some advice on a roaster that I am considering. I currently use a Gen Cafe, and am looking to expand. This roaster is sold by a company called Monster Coffee, and they say it roasts 1 to 5 lbs ber batch, but most likely will do 3 to 4 lbs. Anybody ever use one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The item is a drum roaster and is built in Israel. Direct link to their manufacturing site is: http://www.coffee-tech.com/
Monster Coffee used to exclusively sell the Sonofresco roaster (Fluid Bed Hot Air 1 pound roaster). There was even a review on CG a while back from an individual who bought one from the Monster Coffee company: Click Here (www.coffeegeek.com)
I see that they do not sell the sonofresco any longer and apparently have switched to just selling the drum roaster made in Israel they now show on their site.

Are you sure there isn't something bigger or more expensive?
Just kidding. If you can score one of those babies, go for it! As for me I'm light on cash and have extra time, so it's home made and/or modified thrift store fodder.
Do you want to go commercial and sell your coffee? If not, and you want to roast a few pounds of coffee at a time, you could always consider a BBQ grill rotisserie. You might be able to pick up a BBQ grill, 5# rotisserie plus 50 pounds of green coffee for less than what the Monster wants as a down payment.

I'm not planning on going commercial any time soon, but in a few years I may be going into semi retirement, and am looking for a way to augment my income. I figure that I should buy a small commercial roaster now while I can afford it, rather than buying it later when finances will be much tighter.
