Is there any canadian CG that ordered a Behmor roaster from US? I want to order one and I wonder about duties... according to a distributor that sells it 325$ including shipping to Canada there is a tariff exception for a coffee roaster. Any infos about that??
I wrote to greenbeanery in Canada but they need to have the Behmor certified for sale by the CSA.

I've been harassing Greenbeanery monthly about the Behmor roaster to see when CSA approval will happen and when they will start to stock them. They kept saying they expect it to happen early in the New Year, but just today they replied that they now aren't in a hurry to bring them in.
So, I'm in the same boat as you are, looking to get one in from the States. I found that same deal, which sounds a little bit better than the Sweet Maria's offering. I'm more familiar with SM as I've ordered from them before. An important factor for me would be buying from a vendor who does NOT use UPS as I've been slammed with exorbitant fees from them in the past. Good luck with your decision. Be sure to post your buying experience and I'll do likewise.

From my experience shipping other items US -> Canada (several hundred items): UPS/FedEx/Etc. will charge a $30 brokerage fee for any package over ~$25 in value. USPS will charge a $5 brokerage fee for any package over ~$50 in value.
The brokerage fee is to cover the shipper filling out additional cross border paperwork.
As the brokerage is so much cheaper I only have items sent to Canada via USPS. On something expensive like the roaster UPS could still be usable but be aware of the additional expense.
On items exceeding the brokerage amount listed above, you will always be charged tax (GST/PST) and if applicable additional duty fees may be assessed (although it sounds like the roaster may be exempt).
Anything made in the US or Canada should have no duty assuming it is clearly declared made in US/Canada.

I bought one from SM in mid-December. Checked into custom duty and yes, only GST and PST are applicable.
I was lucky that I ended up not having to deal with the shipping and custom duty issue. My friend went to visit her family in Lynnwood, WA and I was able to have the Behmor shipped there. She brought it back as part of her exemption.
SM is such a pleasure to deal with. As soon as they see that I have a Canadian address with an US shipping address, they told me they want to make sure I get the Behmor fast so that I can get it into Canada. Behmor was shipped out the very next day.

I also bought one from SM in December. Came in via USPS within a week. No duty. Got a 15$ shipping discount and 8 pounds of excellent coffee with it. Good deal !
I regularly order from SM and have always been pleased with their service and green coffee. Highly recommended. Make sure you specify USPS.

So, I was all set to order a Behmore from Sweet Maria's, when I encountered a shipping cost of $141.30 via USPS to Canada! Oi. I emailed them to ensure it wasn't a mistake and they said it was accurate. Roastmasters.com ships for $62.70 also via USPS so they got my order. The place that has the offer of $325 US including shipping to Canada (chocolate alchemy, I believe) was tempting but they make no mention of the extra mesh drum.
