Hi all. I have searched everything I can find on doing the simply mod for the original poppery. The one where you separate the heater and fan circuits so you can control the fan with a dimmer. I just can't seem to understand what is going on. Ever drawing I have seen is either for the poppery II or for other mods than the fan dimmer or something was more complex. Can some one please help me out with either a link to a simple drawing on what wires to cut etc. I would be so grateful.

Thank you.

Gregg, the electrical moron.

Maybe this will help.  You just need to isolate and connect the red motor wires to a separate power cord.

Thank you GT. So I literally just connect the two red wires to a separate plug and then put a dimmer inline? Wow that seems too easy.

Does it matter which red wire goes to which part of the plug?

Lastly, I am supposed to remove the internal thermostat too right? Looks like I can just remove the screw as shown here?

No, polarity doesn't matter.

I can't quite see how the screw works in the picture but I did disable the thermostat and maybe a high limit if it has one.

I did it a year or more ago and I can't exactly remember but removing a screw in the tstat sounds right.   Seems like there is another place on the web with pictures and explanation explaining it.

Here's a good explanation and pictures about 2/3 of the way down (starting at 2-17) the page.  They suggest just turning the screw out a couple of turns.

Now that you have all the info to separate the fan from the heater you will probably want this fan speed controller:
