Just received my Behmor from Sweet Maria's (made it to Canada in just over a week and there was no duty/taxes!).

One of the fins in the drum is half bent back; is this normal?

It is somewhat visible in the below picture (the rearmost fin located on the bottom in the picture; you can see the far end is curled back).

Hi Geoff,

That I don't know about sorry. I'm just curious though, why didn't you order from the Greenbeanery?

Shipping from Sweet Maria's was still pretty cheap and it included the 8 samples of coffee.

From the board it seemed people liked the green coffee from Sweet Maria's so it seemed worth a go.

As it turned out I didn't have to pay any duty/tax/brokerage so it actually worked out quite reasonably price wise.

Thanks for the tip on the small grid roaster; the shipping from green beanery makes that a much better deal!

They have a fair stock of Vacuum coffee makers also which seem reasonably priced; appreciate the tip.

Center fins are "V" shaped.  All other fins should be flat planes, with no bends.  Give SM's a call/email.

Thanks for the feedback.

I contacted Behmor directly and they were most helpful. He confirmed, as you have, that the end fin shouldn't be bent back. As soon as he gets more spare drums in he will be sending me one.

Thanks

I received my Behmor yesterday and the 2 middle fins are "V" shaped.  Picture in operating manual shows the middle fins to be "V" shaped.   Looking at the drum, that is the way they are made.  The bends on both fins are machine made.  Hmmm.

Correct. 2 middle fins are bent to V, remaining fins are straight, but attached offset. They function to keep bean mass evenly distributed and awash in radiant heat. Geoff's pic shows a bent end on one of the straight fins, and it's almost inaccessible, but possibly salvageable.
