Ok...another question...do you have to roast outside with the Behmor? My wife is very sensitive to the smell when I am using my Fresh Roast and popcorn popper so I do it outside because of the smoke etc. Any input is appreciated.

There is smell. Not like a popcorn popper, but enough I set it outside on the porch and close the door most of the way. Keeps the wife a bit less annoyed.

The smoke suppression works very well with the Behmor. I know this because I had to Recently roast some extra batches, and dusted off my SC/TO to help out, I forgot how much smoke roasting coffee can produce and realized how well the Behmor suppresses the smoke, AND a good portion of the smells. Having said that, I roast in the garage as it still will produce smoke and smells. Unfortunately our kitchen range exhaust does not vent outside and only vents back in through a filter. If it did vent outside, It would probably suck most of the residual smoke and smells right out. It is probably the most efficient as far as far as smoke suppression as any Home-Roaster out there.

I started out with the Poppery II - used it 4 months before getting a Behmor.
I get more smoke with the Behmor (because the batch size is about 5x more) and get really great roasted coffee smell from it.
I break the law - I do a 1# and use 400 gm beans. I like to get right before mid 2c before hitting the cool button, wait 30 seconds, and open the door.
I would not use the Behmor indoors, based on the way I roast.
It's a great machine.
BTY, I do see some smoke as I am getting close to 2c.

Smells=yes. Smoke=a little, depending on final roast degree. A quality range hood vent will do away with 95% of the smoke the bimmer generates, so roast on the range, fan on 'HI'.

I would say there is "some smoke" and a little odor but I have not roasted with any other equipment but the Behmor. I do roast inside with a fan, the window open, and my kitchen vent going with no smoke alarms. Lets put it this way my wife wants me to roast outside but in MN the winters are tough so I plan to always roast inside.

If you roast under or near an outside vented oven hood, the smell is ok. There is some smell with the Behmor, but not as bad when roasting without smoke supression. The smell does not linger as long.

I roast indooors using the B with a huge kitchen exhaust. No issue for three of four seasons. In the summer, the odors come right back in the windows. The smell is very obvious.
