Here's how the 1 pound roast turned out.  A batch of El Salvador Guadalupe.

Looks like a great roaster and you have learned a whole lot about roasting theory in the process.

Is the voltage 110 or 220 or ?

Have you put any baffles in the drum like the Behmor to fully disperse and balance the beans?

Oven runs on 220V.  That's our voltage over here in the Philippines. :) No problem with an ordinary 10 amp socket.

The drum has 3 stirring vanes inside ( one full lenght, two side vanes and a center vane ) and does move the beans around very well.

It's been a terrific learning experience!

Just be forewarned.  It's very much a DIY thing, definitely not plug and play.
But its been a lot of fun. :)

Alfonso,
What about chaff? It looks like a real fire hazard with those open elements! I assume the chaff stays in the drum and is blown out later with your external cooling fan (?). A great project, thanks for doing the follow up posts.
Barry.

Some of the chaff stays on the beans, but most that fall off, go through the mesh and does end up on the bottom of the oven.  those that hit the elements burn off instantly but without a flame. The stuff that falls on the side never ignites. Don't really know why.

I have never had a fire since I have been roasting and I've been through maybe 200 batches already. Maybe there is not enough oxygen in there?

nice work!! I'm impressed, it would be easier to use than my friends one, that is made out of a bbq, rubbbish bin and electric motor. how fast does it roast, and as alfonso said, wouldn't the chaff be a problem??

Hello David,

To roast a full pound,  you reach first crack at around 12 minutes with the heat full on.  From that point, you can control your heat to reach 2C in as little as 15 minutes.

I like about half a pound or as much as 12 ounces. That way, I have a better control of the roasting parameters. With twelve ounce, I can hit first crack at around 8 minutes, which is what I typically aim for.

There's a lot of Chaf falling off,  but it has never been a problem.

Alfonso
