Hi. There are lots of easy places to visit in Kona. Greenwell Farms, right off the highway w/big sign offers tours. Bayview offers some kind of tours too.
I have never posted here before although I have been a long time admirer of Mark and a long time member of coffeegeek.
I have been in email-touch with Jeff Shelly and he asked if we give tours here. I said "no" and here are the 2 main reasons. We are 2 miles up off the highway on a 4 wheel drive road! We have a liability issue cuz of the road. But the main reason is that it is just me and Bob. We don't have any employees waiting to greet you:) as do the other big farms that I mentioned which are set up for peole to drop by. Only Thunder the dog would be waiting on the front porch if both Bob and I were out side---which we usually are. I do hope you understand. Our land is steep and has never been bulldozed so walking around is not even easy unless you are a slight mountain goat.
Do I think our green is better than most? Yes indeed! because we are just farmers who are simply devoted to farming and into the details of getting our coffee to be its best! To Bob's and my way of thinking , that is all that matters to our customers.
Right now Bob spends most of his days out trimming out the pruning he has done. I try to help him but I often have the office work and we have quite a few roasted cusotmers to care for. (I'm also training for a Marathon, so one day or more per week is usually not even coffee related<g>.)
I do hope you understand. I am sorry for any misunderstanding.
Hey if you ever want any photos of any thing on our farm, please let me know. That I can do!

Thank you for your frank response. I felt from your website that you are proud of your product but appreciate lifestyle over the bottom line. I wasn't trying to turn this into a search for the Holy Grail and will certainly order some of your product in the future. Just dropping by unannounced is not something I ever do (which is probably why I stink at sales cold calls).
I was mainly just trying to find a place to show my 7 year old how coffee is grown and why his father is so obsessed with the beverage that the beans produce. We'll stop in for a quick tour of the other places.
Thanks again and I can't wait to visit your wonderful state.
