A good year ago I suggested the same thing for the new 1 lb. roaster - to put the eject button remotely located from the other controls... we shall see.
How long are you willing to wait? This has been rumored for the last two years at least, while I am confident HT will get it out it could still be a long wait.

At one point there was talk of a two pound that would run on 15 amps, but that was a few years ago and that project was sidelined. The one pound model is getting closer. I recently tested one prototype component of it that was meant to verify the design before it was incorporated into the roaster, and I REALLY liked it! Can't say more than that, and don't mean to become the carrot-dangler amongst you, but just trying to show that work is progressing. While I have given a lot of input as to the control system, I know nothing about that right now at all. So, when will it be ready. If someone shows up at my house with a bottle of single malt I would be glad to sit down and contemplate that answer along with them. It has taken a long time, and one of the delays was the popularity of their food dehydrators which are very popular in Asia and Europe, so they were concentrating on those for a while. But I have seen pics of the prototype and it is coming along. I can only hope along with the rest of you. As soon as I hear anything I can share I will be posting it on my website.. But promise... No holding of breaths! ;-)

Of course, I (and everyone) wishes we knew for sure. For me, once I make a purchase that will be it for a while. So if I get the current 1/2 pound version it has to hold me a few years!
If it was going to happen this summer or so, I would just pass the time away with my popcorn popper (or maybe 2)!

Hi, Sorry to push up a topic which 1 month old. I just bought a second hand HT and start doing my 1st roasting couple of weeks ago. I need help because the last few roasting that I did came out the coffee taste smoky. I 1st tried Mexico chiapas and assume that was it natural taste until I try other beans Columbia supremo and it too taste smoky. Any idea what did I do wrong? Both beans I eject on the 1st sign of second crack. Thank you for the advice.

Manoomano- I think you'll get more feedback if you start a new thread for your issue. I suggest starting with describing what you did in terms of drop-in temp and power/fan settings throughout the roast.

First thing I would do - especially for a used unit - is to clean the machine thoroughly. You might be suprised how much chafe might be lurking in places you can only get to by taking it apart. Also - if you are using the hottop filter make sure it is clean too.

IMO (I don't have a hot top), when buying a used anything that has consumable parts (like filters), you'd be best just replacing those right off. You don't know where they've been or who they were with so its best to go fresh. And, as has been said, a good cleaning.
