Just saw this on the Behmor Facebook page:
11 year old Wins Gold in Coffee Roasting Competition.
Queensland, Australia, Oct 2012 -
The 7th Annual Golden Bean Coffee Roasting competition has just concluded in Australia and the winner of the Home Roasting Category for Milk Based Coffee (Cafe Latte) category was an 11 year old school boy.
Zed Freeman (11yo) from Geelong, Australia roasted a heirloom varietal Mexican coffee bean on a Behmor 1600 coffee roaster to take the title from many people with more experience than he has had years.
When asked why he selected that particular green bean to roast he said "I was going to a friend's birthday party later that day at Mexican restaurant and thought it made sense to follow the same theme".
He went on to say "I roasted two 300 gram batches in the Behmor and blended them together, it was really easy to use and you can see the beans change colour through the glass door"
Zed was shocked that his first ever entry into the national coffee roasting competition won first place and is looking forward to the next opportunity to compete.
That is correct and as noted in the article Andy came home a winner as well. The apple did not far fall from the tree. I've had a chance to visit with Andy on more than a few occassions along with a night out with the family down in OZ, he's one helluva nice guy, blunt/ brutally honest but great to do business with as well. Paula and the girls are lovely too.
Good for Zed and good for Andy.. Congrats to both
REMINDER: Never leave the roaster unattended when in use !! And remember to use our Rosetta Stone tip PART V PARAGRAPH 3.. it works !!!
