The first thing I did was to remove all grates and the diffuser. I then replaced it with a 10x13 Jelly Roll Baking sheet I got from Wal-mart $3.98. Then placed some Charbroil Diamonds (kinda like Lava rocks) $10.95 Home Depot.

Next I had to drill a 13/16 hole to mount the temperature gauge (Braunfels Professional Grill Temperature Gauge $18.95 Wal-mart 700 degree heat range) first I drilled a 1/4 inch pilot hole at the level of the spit (had to remove handle while I did this). Then used the Step bit to drill a perfect 13/16 inch hole (the step bit was worth the $35) then mounted the gauge and replaced the handle.

Then I was ready to do a test burn and my first roast. I loaded 1# Bolivian Canapoc Co-op in to the drum. Preheated to 475 degree's opened grill loaded drum and started rotisserie. The temp drop to about 450 then came back up to 475 in about 6 minutes. First Crack at 8:50; lower temperature to low it read 445 at 11:00 minutes coasted into Second Crack at 12:50 Pulled drum at 16;00 fast second crack. It was a nice even Full City++.

Next I reloaded the drum with 2#'s SM French Roast and got another real nice even roast, Not one burnt bean. No beans stuck in the drum. It will take a little practice unloading the drum into Shop vav/bucket Bean Cooler. The cooler had the beans cold down in under 3 minutes and removed quite a bit of he lose chafe.

I'm loving this RK Drum Setup; 3 pounds of coffee roasted in less then an hour. Do think I'll have to invest in a pair of Zetex Gloves they are rated to 650 degrees. I had a pair of welders gloves ($12.95 at Lowe's) they are not getting it. That spit gets HOT! Zetex Gloves
