Well my Hottop KN-8828B-2K will be here on Wednesday and I am beginning to feel like a kid counting down the days until Christmas (Tuesday night will certainly be a sleepless one!). The Hottop's reputation precedes it, and I am sure to get many roasts out of it. However, to ensure the longevity of this roaster, I want to make sure that I provide regular maintenance and  do whatever I can to avoid system malfunctions and the dreaded chamber fire. I know the basics, empty the chaff tray after every roast, change the filters regularly (any possible stainless steel computer filters?)...etc. However, Im sure that the seasoned Hottop user could provide some insight regarding other tips that I could implement to improve functionality over time.

Randy of Hottop Customer Service here,

Here are a few tips of the top of what is left of my head:

- Check the drum after each roast for stuck beans
- When emptying the chaff tray also clean the little ledge above it that will be revealed when the front cover is removed.
- Be sure to either tip the machine or use a vacuum or compressed air to get any stray chaff that did not make it into the tray.
- Once every three months or so, remove the rear cover and clean out stray chaff from there.
- Understand this adjustment of the Gold Knob.
- Oxyclean or equivalent is excellent for dipping the drum about once a year or so. it sill also clean the front cover nicely, but be sure to rinse in clean water and blow dry it.
- 303 Aerospace Protectant is awesome to keep the black plastic outer surfaces looking new. It contains NO SILICONE!
- Read the manual! Refer to it often.
- If you live in a cold or damp environment (winter garage or rainy location)  store the roaster indoors where it will be warm. Using an ice cold roaster will increase condensation inside the roaster and can cause problems in the long run.
