Question to anyone who has the RK Drum and his higher speed motor product:

Does the bean noise caused by the higher rotation speed cause any difficulty in hearing the first and second cracks?

Actually, I assume this is not an issue with the slower 6 rpm rotisserie motors but would appreciate feedback on that scenario as well.

Thanks in advance,

Charles

I've never had any problem hearing the cracks with the 57 RPM motor. If I stand back from the grill I find it easier to hear. Especially when roasting decaf.

Thanks for your reaponse.

I placed my order today and am looking forward to getting started next year.  My frustration is that I live in the Caribbean and it takes so long to get anything shipped and cleared here!  However, I am very grateful not to be experiencing the stateside snow and ice!

Merry Christmas,

Charles

If you have any additional questions about roasting with the RK you can email me. I've roasted over 160#s in my RK.

I would have to agree that the sounds from the first crack and second crack are very easy to hear.  I usually roast 3-4 lbs at a time and even at 57rpm's, the sound is very distinct.

I wish I could bring my RK to the Caribbean. I roasted 5-4# batches last week @ 29 degrees. That took about two hours. At least I have a nice warm grill to keep warm by. :)

gsamu, Thanks for your response.  It will be great to actually hear cracks especially after my experience with the I-Roast.

TheArtfuldodger, Maybe you can come down to Anguilla and help me assemble the beast!  No problem with ambient temperatures here! :)  Just parts delivery.  On a separate note, I sent you an email with a couple of other questions.  Thanks so much for your offer to help.
