Every once in awhile I get served a supreme cup of coffee. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's usually in a restaurant somewhere. I'm looking for that cup of coffee that has that coffeeier coffee flavor. Not bitter, just full body, great coffee flavor.
I just changed my coffee maker to a Technivorm KBT741. I use bottled water and fresh burr grind my coffee before brewing. I've tried various Columbian coffees, and others. I make a pretty good cup, but it still lacks that special something that I'm after. That mellow, full body, coffeeier coffee flavor....any suggestions?

I'll agree with Tim here... I was naive in how much a difference FRESH[x] coffee would make.
Then I had some, made at home on my Clarity, the same machine I'd been using for weeks, and even though it was a much lighter roast (city) than I'd been using,(French), the coffee was much better, fuller and of good flavor. One of my friends commented that it was better than usual.

Thanks for your input guys. I'm beginning to understand more and more that freshness is essential to great coffee. That aside, there must be some coffees better than others for that certain flavor I'm after....

For starters, See if you can find a roaster in your area that sells single origin coffee's. Quite often they will have brew 2-3 different samples that you can taste at the store. Buy some small quanities of some coffee's that interest you or ask the roaster to recommend some. It would help if you could describe what your looking for in the taste.
Personaly, my taste in coffee will vary from day to day (or cup to cup in some cases), so I like having a selection of different roasts.

Pete... I'm not sure that any of us can really answer your question since everyone's taste varies. As the others have suggested, try coffees from different regions to see which most suit your preferences. You'll definately find some that you like more than others. If I look at my roasting logs for the last 6 months, I find that I am roasting an African coffee every other week, and the most common among those are Harrar, Yirg and Ugandan. The other weeks are a mix of Centrals, asians, island coffees, etc., whatever strikes my fancy...
