Subject: Capresso Infinity vs. Solis Maestro (help a newb)

I'm trying to decide which of the 2 is a better grinder for drip coffee.  I recently bought the Presto machine from Costco and it's fantastic.  I've been using a whirly blade grinder and I know I'm still missing the boat as far as good coffee is concerned but with the new Presto machine I can say that it's MUCH better then I've had before.

I'm wondering if the Capresso has less powder then the Maestro?  It seems as though powder is a no-no and it can lead to bitter coffee.

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

David

Having owned both, I returned the capresso and still use the Solis. The Solis produces less static, has a much better designed grounds chute path. If you like oily beans, the Capresso will probably not be to your liking. The Solis has some less than perfect points, like trouble grinding really light roasts, large beans not feeding in the hopper without prodding, but I much prefer it over the Capresso. The infinity's burrs looked nicer. I use my grinder for swiss gold one cup, french press and my wifes drip machine.

YMMV

I've had the Infinity since October.  Nice machine, I like it.  Consistent grind.  On a fine ground I sometimes can smell the motor.  I bought it locally at Peet's Coffee shop for $99.  Peet's will handle any problems for a year (at least that what I think the nice barista told me!).

It is made in China.  The Solis is assembled in the USA with Swiss/German components.
