Subject: Senseo machine - problems

I received a Senseo single cup machine for Christmas but am finding the coffee way too weak.  It tastes like burnt coffee-water!  Using two pods instead of one (twice the prescribed amount) I have found will produce a B+ 4 oz. cup of coffee.  Of course this means double the expense.  I have tried both the Senseo brand and the Folgers brand pods.  Folgers' are a little better but still have the same problem.

Does anyone know if this problem is endemic with the Senseo machines and whether there is a pod available that brews strong?

I am trying to emulate the wonderful single-cup-brewed taste I have sampled at several offices I have visited.

Thanks!

I feel your pain, as I too had bought a Senseo, thinking it would be a nice/easy way to brew some coffee. Boy was I wrong. I like the design, and the concept, but somewhere between those the machine fails. I had mine less than two hours before I took it back to Target. There was just no if's an's or butt's.....it wouldn't make a decent cup of joe.

I have seen some "refillable" pods on Ebay, where you can load your own coffee and use it in the Senseo. Those might work, at least then you could use REALLY fresh coffee.

By the way, the promotional material and rebate offers inside my box had an expiration date of 03. I bought this machine in Nov. '04....so makes me wonder how long those coffee pods had been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. lol

I bought one of these --machines (I can't bring myself to call them coffee makers) for my mother for Christmas.  She lives alone and, at 87, just wanted something really no brainer.  She first tried the B&D model but it didn't perform well at all so she took it back.  I bought her the Senseo and we tried it Christmas morn--what a disappointment!!  After a thorough clean out, we tried all three types of coffee (reg, mild & strong) 2-3 times each.  Dishwater!  They look cool and if you want something that heats water quick this might be what you're looking for, but the coffee is terrible.

Hello!
I was just looking through the forums and saw your post. If you still have your Senseo, try betterpods.com. I order from them and have been very pleased with their delivery service as well as products. They have a wide variety of mild, medium, and dark roast as well as flavors.

You will find reviews and the best way to use your Senseo machine and other pod brewers on the forums at :
singleservecoffeeforums.com/

Woofy Texan is correct though, the best pods are to be had at betterpods....they have just started stocking Reunion Island, 52nd street and Aloha Island top notch premium coffees.

Good luck

There is a way to configure your senseo just the way you like it.

You will need some stuff:
  • A Router
  • An Internet connection
  • A Senseo "Speed" (that's the blue one)

First you have to connect your Senseo through the Router with the internet

Every month you can check for new updates and configurations. They still work on a programm so that you can share each others configurations.
