I bought my mom one of those JV pod machines for Christmas and she LOVES it. She has tried many different pod brands from many different stores, and they've all seemed to work fine. Like you she has also not found the JV pods anywhere but Target. Target also sells tea pods for a single cup of tea, which she enjoys occasionally.

PhuNam, thanks for the info. When I was reading up, on pod makers, I got in the mind set that, Senseo was the best and that the other pods, were not necessarily, interchangeable. I've only used the JV decaf blend, and I bought it, at half price, for work. We have a Cuisinart, for the home.

Here's the response I received from Meitta, when I asked about using their pods, in the JV maker.
"Dear Melitta Customer,
Thank you for contacting Melitta.
Please contact the manufacturer of this Juan Valdez coffeemaker. This is not a Melitta product.
Sincerely, S.Zapata Consumer Relations
Reminds me of the typical answers that you receive from a giant ISP company. Their response has nothing to do with your question. Regardless, thanks to those that responded to my question, I'll experiment with other pod brands.

Ok, I have used and purchased both the Melitta One to One and the Salton Juan Valdez.
The Juan Valdez is the almost the same but is an improved Mellita design.
The JV has a larger 40 oz versus 28 oz water tank standard.
The spout design tilts up to easily handle larger cups. It detaches easier and does not leak like the One to One may. It easily snaps off for rinsing.
The insert plastic piece that fits into the spout is slightly different to handle the new pod holder.
The pod holder is made to handle both the Mellita One to One and the Senseo - Home Cafe style pods without leaking. The standard Juan Valdez type pods are the same diameter size as the Senseo Home Cafe pods but contain as mush coffee as the standard One to One pods.
The pod holder is the same exterior size as the Mellita (it can even be used in the One to One and vice versa) but the interior is larger and flater to handle the larger diameter pods. but the design is superior because it handles both style pods easily.
It basically is an improved Mellita One to One (Maybe someone sold the design to Mellita and then to Salton???) with a larger tank, better easily removeable spout components that move to handle mugs and don't leak, with a different pod holder that handles One to One and Juan Valdez and Other Home Cafe style pods with ease.
I think it currently only available at Target and over the internet (juanvaldezpods.com)

Other thoughts.
I use a great machine with a thermal carafe with freshly ground coffee for when I am going to drink a lot at one sitting. But I find I am using my 2 Juan Valdez (1 upstairs, by my den next to my bedroom, one in my kitchen downstairs) more and more.
Like I said above, the JV uses all of the locally available Mellita One to One and Home cafe pods easily. It also rinses easily and leaks less ( not at all to my observation) than the Mellita.
I find I use it for that first cup of coffee in the morning and at any time I want, without the thought of ( am I going to drink a full pot soon??, thoughts I sometime had.) I also find it fantastic for quicly brewing hot water for tea, hot cinder, instant cup of soup, noodle cups, oatmeal etc, late at night.
Try the various pods available in your supermarket and oneline, some oneline pods are great.
My only complaint is that the temperature is hot but not as hot as I like to put cold cream in it. You may try to use a non dairy creamer in it to keep it warmer if you sip your coffee.
I think its coffee tastes better than any senseo home cafe system ( I tried that too).

Kosty: Thanks for your replies. Obviously, you're very farmiliar with the subjects. Here's what I've found. The JV machine makes very good pod coffee, all things considered. It's doesn't equal my home machine, but it fulfills my needs, at my office.
The Senseo pods I purchased, are not the same size as the JV pods and they appear to hold more coffee. When I use them in the machine, I have leakage directly behind the spout. It's not coffee, it's water that is being forced out, because, in my humble opinion, the amount of, "load." in the pod holder. I'm also experiencing at least 3 pods in each JV decaf box, unusable, due to torn pods. I'll be advising the company this, as well as Target. Let's see how they reply. I'll post their response. Thanks again
