Just saw info on this machine from godshot and victrola Pretty cool looking. I wonder if it uses some sort of centrifuge action? I know there have been shops that would do press pots of any of the coffees they carry, but this seems much more convenient.

The big announcement is today, the 28th! Can't wait to see what this thing is and if it's under 1k!!!! I imagine we won't see anything consumer oriented for a while for this technology.

First of all, extremely cool machine. Extreme. It basically takes 1904's ideal of "espressly for you" and delivers it in brew coffee (instead of espresso). It's revolutionary. We saw a situation where extending a brew time to 40 seconds would cause over extraction. Can brew any volume, any temperature, and be changed on the fly. Andrew Barnett of Ecco Cafe and I did a down and dirty test against "cupping" coffee. I was amazed at how the "cup" feel of the Clover was. Not as much body delivered compared to the cupping sample, but very intriguing cup. I hope Zander et al don't think I was too down on the machine. The price is quite out there, and while a showcase cafe (think Intelly, Stumptown, etc) might be able to afford them and get them in, it's not for every cafe at this point. It can take over a minute to get a cup. The brew times are usually 30 to 40 seconds, but there's pre stuff (ie, grind, measure the coffee), and post stuff (separating grind from coffee, pause to sweep off the spent grounds, press the deliver brew button, brew delivered to cup). There are definite plans to bring this thing out as a multi group device. It will not be $xxxx.00 times x of groups, but will still cost more than the single brewing group model. I'm really curious to try this thing head to head against a vac pot, press pot, and the Krups Moka Brew. I have another visit with them tomorrow, and yet another on Nov. 11 at their lab. Woot! Mark

Thanks Itinerant, I read Mark's post. I was asking more specifics. To some people $2K may be "out there" to some it may be $5K, but to me, that's a BIG difference.

Well the Clover guys were very open with information about the machine including possible introductory pricing, but I don't feel comfortable being the person to publish it online - if Zander or anyone else at the company wants to do it, or issue a press release, etc etc, that's another matter.
