I have a Taylor 9842N, bought quite a while ago for about $25. I think I bought it from Williams-Sonoma. Fahrenheit/Centigrade, calibration is adjustable in case it goes off, but I have never needed to adjust it.
This replaced a much older Taylor 9840, Fahrenheit only, when its calibration drifted. The 9840 isn't adjustable.

My Aeropress is on its way from Coffee Bean Corral and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. CBC has given great service BTW. When they received my order they were out of stock because of the run after the Gizmag article. They sent me an email telling me this and saying they should be able to send out my order on Thursday but then sent it Wednesday instead. Excellent customer service -- more companies should take notice.
The success of the Aeropress is a testament to the marketing power of the internet. Your willingness to participate in forums like this and answer the end users' questions is a testament to your business savvy as well. I got my AeroPress last week, and I love it!
I'm having a small problem, though. It worked quite well with a dark roasted mocha java blend I tried last week. This week, I picked up a pound of another blend (ethiopian and kenyan, I think) that is roasted much more lightly. I haven't had any luck with it in the AeroPress (or in the Melitta drip, for that matter). Each cup comes out especially sour.
I think the blend has great potential, it was quite fresh and smells lovely. I've used various grinds from near espresso to what I would normally use for French Press and I'm using a Maestro + here at work and a Mazzer at home, so I don't think the grinder is at fault. I've varied the temperature a bit from just off the boil to somewhere in the range of 180 - 185 (I don't have a thermometer at work so I can't be sure...).

Certainly not trying to ruffle feathers here or anything, but I do want to raise the point of commercial posting on the forum.
I understand that Alan has been kind enough to help a few users out, I think that it's interesting to note that post 1 and post 2 from Mr. Adler were blatant plugs for his product, including the second one which claimed that his product could potentially save lives.
Last time I checked, the following appears at the bottom of each and every page: No commercial posting of any nature will be tolerated; only private sales by private individuals, in the "Buy and Sell" forum. --and-- Probationary Period: If you are a new signup for CoffeeGeek, you cannot promote, endorse, criticise or otherwise post an unsolicited endorsement for any company, product or service in your first five postings.
Links to his website are dropped in here and there, then all of a sudden, a post with links to reviews, and, oh, how convenient, a link to a place where you can actually buy the product.
As an added bonus, all of these posts give the AAP added exposure on google searches, since CG typically pops up very high on the list with any coffee related search.
I understand that LOC.com is a site sponsor, but i think it is very inappropriate for Mr. Adler to blatantly promote his product, then post a direct link to purchase it.
To use a contrasting example, Greg invented a groundbreaking product, but i cannot recall one time where he used the forum in an attempt to promote his invention or otherwise give exposure to it.
My .02, and probably not a popular one with those who have received "advice".

I appreciate the advice Mr. Adler is offering via this forum. He was not the one who originally started this topic, and his first post to the topic was purely informational, not offering any links to purchase, etc. Given the relatively small amount of information available about the AeroPress, this thread has given me and others a great resource, although I do understand the concern of having this forum turn into a spam-haven.
Mr. Adler wasn't the only one posting information on where to buy the Aeropress (which is still only sold by a limited number of distributors), and it would appear to me, given the context, that his posts were appropriate and did not cross the line of being a "commercial post". All of his posts responded to questions asked and weren't just blatant "buy my product" schpiels. I'm not a moderator, though, so my interpretation of the rules obviously isn't gospel.
I don't know Mr. Adler but I hope that he would continue to stand behind his product by answering questions and offering advice. I'm looking forward to my first cup of Aeropress-brew when I get home today. Fedex says it's waiting for me already! I will definitely be posting my comments/results/questions here once I've gotten a chance to take it for a test drive.

Stinky - I would not know this forum exists if not for googling Aeropress. Personaly I have purchased the Aeropress (at flag and kites because they give 2 extra filter packs) after geeting advice from Alan. Also I know I have who to ask if I run into issues. About posting places were you can buy the Aeropress I find it necessery do to the fact it is a unique product and not available through our usuall channels. I beleive we should encourage Alan because he is giving us all first hand professinal advice on our issues. My 2c.

I understand your concern, but I think the rule is really meant to apply to prevent mindless spamming. That certainly isn't the case here. I actually think it'd be great if we had more Q&A threads likes this.

Wow. I try to check this thread daily and suddenly six posts have streaked in.
First of all. Thank you Todd for your words of encouragement. We are a small family-run business, owned by my sweetheart Irene (AKA wife) of 42 years, and myself. Our original product was the Aerobie flying ring, which we've been making here in the USA for over 21 years. I still play Aerobie with the local teens every week. Now, the AeroPress is a totally new path for us. I find it very exiting and am greatly enjoying the give and take with people on this forum.
Next joepfohl asked about the maximum brew. Four scoops in a single pressing, takes about one minute, and will make enough espresso to dilute to twenty ounces of standard brewed coffee.
Next, a comment for Dalton. The two sour coffees I've tasted were both light roasts. One was $40/lb, 100% Kona from a French press, the other was an espresso blend at the Seattle Coffee Fest brewed in a $10,000 commercial espresso machine. However I hasten to add that I've tasted light roasts which were not sour. I suspect that medium-to-darker roasting (which I prefer) tends to tame the more obstreperous beans. Hopefully you bean gurus out there will shed more light on this.
Next the comments from stinkyjones and ruk. Hi stinky and ruk. Your points are well taken. I was conflicted about the appropriateness of that post. I realized that localsonlycoffee also sells AeroPresses, but I also realized that the people reading this thread were doing so because they were curious about the AeroPress and wanted to know what others thought about it. So, I went ahead and posted localsonly (which had eight reviews) and two other links to reviews. But I appologize to anyone who I may have offended.
I search for reviews every few days. Would you like me to keep them to myself, or would you like to know about them? I'll abide by your inputs.
Finally, I thank jerseysteve and nicepants for their support and look forward to comments and questions from all of you.

I tend to agree with "stinkyjones" on this issue. As a relative newcomer to these forums, I wanted to be careful about my posts during the probationary period so as to not "break" the rules. I have had several positive experiences with vendors and products that I would have liked to tell about, but was worried they might have been viewed as promotions or endorsements.
