OK....I too admit to using auto drip in addition to everything from moka's to espresso.
I've been intrigued lately by the new Capresso CoffeeTeam LUXE, which is the retooled older model. On their site, they claim a brew temp of 200f, and a hold of 180f (irrelevant, because it's going into a caraffe anyway)
Since I read Mark's "First Look" review of another Capresso unit, with good first results.....I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with the NEW CoffeeTeam, not the old one which had it's faults.
I REALLY want something for my office that I can just......forgive me for saying this........push a button. {{gasp}}
However, I do want to point out the MT500 has a different brewing system than Capresso's other models - that stainless steel thing that they (and Aabree) have harped about. Whether or not this makes the difference, I dunno yet.
However (yes, another however :)), I also have the Capresso CoffeeTEC model here, though I haven't cracked open the box yet, or tried it out. All in the same day, Aabree and 1st Line had 8 products at my door, and I want to give each unit a fair shake. I'm still using the MT500 day to day for now (not drinking much of the coffee tho - others are), and I started doing my temp tests on it today. Unlike an espresso machine, I figure only a couple of weeks of hard testing will be enough to evaluate this unit.
When I test the CoffeeTEC, I will check the temps for sure. That might give a better sense of Capresso's overall brewing temps. An interesting note - I was sent a CoffeeTEC last January for testing, but it was DOA. I sent it back to the supplier, and they never sent another unit.
Hello all, This is my first post and I am certainly not an expert on the subject of coffee brewing. I did a little research and finally bought a Capresso Team Luxe about three months ago. I am very happy with it. For many years I brewed coffee with a Cuisinart machine and pre-ground coffee from the super market. It was okay, but I did wonder why the coffee from my favorite restaurant tasted so much better. I thought it was due to the kind of coffee they used. Now I roast my own beans, blend them to my taste, and every morning my Capresso grinds and brews a cup of coffee that I realy enjoy. I don't know the temperature of the brewing water or of the coffee. I let the coffee sit in the carafe until it is gone, usually less than an hour. Every cup is so nice.
If I'm not mistaken, the Capresso Team Luxe has one serious leg up on almost all "grind n' brew" coffee makers - it has a conical burr grinder, where others (like the Cuisinart, the Krups Fresh Aroma, etc) all have the dastardly whirly blade grinders...
What has finally peaked my curiosity is that on this "re-tooled" model, they're making claims about temperature. And I have to wonder.....are they telling the truth, or do they just read a lot of alt.coffee and this board?
It's capresso, so I have an inclination to believe them.
I think I'm just going to buy one, and run it through its paces like you do Mark.
Remember..... Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach a fish to pull an espresso, and you drink for a lifetime.
