Has any one tried this yet? Is it comparable to the Chemex coffee maker? better worst? I want to know if I should try to get the Chemex (work of art of the past) or the Bodum for a manual drip maker. The bodum has the benefit of no paper filter, but I assume I'll get some residue at the bottom though....
Here is a pic:

I've never used that brewer before, but man is it a lot prettier than the Chemex! I'm interested to know what the verdict is. It would be nice to have great drip without getting a Technivorm or hunting around for Chemex filters.

My worry is that it will drip too fast and let too much sediment through..... It does have a gold filter so it will let oil thru.

The spout model is kind of cool! Get one and use 5 micron polyester felt (designed for filtering) with it. Easy to sew a seam for that.
I've only had one Chemex user so far sample the felt (which I obsess about with regard to the Aeropress), but the report was very encouraging -- complex coffee like a French press (oils, etc.) but no fines.
Using a microscope to examine filters goes very far toward explaining what ends up in the cup. For me, I want complexity without fines.

I think the spout is very attractive and creates an unusual appearance. However,it may be difficult to clean. Also, looks pretty fragile. With me,it would probably be lucky to survive a week.

Could you point me to a site or link that would explain the 5 micron polyester felt designor how to make it? It sounds like it would slow down the coffee to get a 4 min. extration....
Thanks

Greenbeanery has just e-mailed me letting me know the product is now available. Just placed my order for 2 spout less modle (some one at work asked to order one for him). Can't wait till it get's here. Probably on Wednesday or Thursday.

Sure. Something I notice is that it's cheaper to buy it at the greenbeanery than in the States. For once a product is cheaper in Canada than in the US!
