Subject: Krups XP4030 Help

I received the XP4030 as a gift to replace my 10 year old Starbucks branded machine.  The XP is easy to use, but I am having difficulty getting consistent shots.  I am using pods, both Starbucks and Illy, but I cannot get good crema.  In some cases, my first shot will have good crema, but all subsequent shots have none.  Has anyone else experienced this or resolved this?

Also, my previous machine was a steam driven model.  It would steam and froth the milk in about a minute or two.  The Krups takes several minutes.  Does this seem normal or could I have a defective machine?

Thanks!
