Hi all,
I'm close to ordering a Newco OCS-12A Pour Over brewer but the only thing holding me back is the coffee temperature in the thermos carafe. I guess my question is this, is the coffee hot enough when it gets in the carafe and if so how long can I expect it to stay hot?

I have the OCS-12 with the stainless/stainless carafe. If you preheat the carafe with either a water only cycle or use a kettle, the coffee will be extremely hot for 4 hours. Hot for 8. It's doesn't seem as good as a thermal airpot and I find brewed coffee will begin to stale after 30 minutes or so to my taste so you have to really want that coffee after an hour or two.

Thanks Shayner, sounds like the temperature is OK but now I'm pondering the SS carafe. Back when I used a SS thermos I don't remember it adversely effecting the taste but it probably did. I wish they offered a glass liner version for the OCS-12.

Hi Gary,
I don't have the Newco OCS-12A, but the OCS-8., & my glass lined carafe temp after the brew is 185°F after preheating with water off the boil from the kettle. I use the water from the carafe to heat up my cups good & hot too! {;-D

I still pondering whether I want the OCS-12A with the SS carafe or not.
But now another question has come up that I don't understand. On the Newco site they list the OCS-8 as 10" deep, the OCS-8A as 12.5" deep, and the OCS-12A (Automatic/Pour Over) as 10" deep. I guess my question is this, is the 12 cup pour-over version 10" deep?
It seems the 8A is deeper because of the plumbing involved but how does this work on the OCS-12A Automatic/Pour Over model?

My OCS-12 is 12.5" deep - and the base is marked as an 8A. The plumbed hardware is removed and plugged. As far as I know the only model 10" deep is the OCS-8.

Craig, I know 10" is what their web site says but that must be a mistake based on Shayner's measurement. If so then this clears up what I didn't understand.

Craig,
With my limited counter space, the 10" model would fit much better. What I'm after is the 10" depth and the 12 cup capacity in the non automatic version.
Seem like if I could find a 12 cup glass carafe that would fit the OCS-8 I could either plug the hole or just add water during the brew cycle and get what I'm after.
