I had brewis interruptis this a.m. whilst preparing the morning brew...ground 9 scoops 3 day rested beans (ground at the Solis Maestro drip icon marking)....placed the top securely on the bottom water bearing carafe (making sure gasket was completly seated...it was...
2 minutes or so after explosion up north, I heard the brewer click indicating shutoff...light went out as well....about 30 seconds later, some coffee reluctantly began its trip South, but after about 1/2 the coffee had descended, it just kind of slowed to a crawl...I had to once again (this happened once before) jiggle and jostle to get things started...about 3 minutes later most of the brew had entered the lower carafe....with much exertion, I removed the upper (done as instructed, MUCH harder to remove than my mineSantos) and a bunch of brew squirted out thetube of the upper bowl...I wonder if the coffe being fresh roasted and still venting gas would be causing this problem...I only filled it to the "10" mark, not to max....
I hate to grind any coarser than this, but maybe that's the answer...any thoughts out there?
Rob

Rob,

It's well known that the identification icons on the Maestro are purely ornamental.  How old is your Maestro?  When mine turned 18 mos, I couldn't get a decent grind to save my life.  Either it was too coarse or it choked the filter.

I'm using the same setting on My Rocky that I use for drip, 8 grams per cup.  I've brewed several pots with excellant taste and no problems.

Try playing with the grind to see what effect that has.

Good luck,

Tom

Hi...my Maestro is a 16 months old, but I replaced the upper burr about 3 months ago....
This mornig I put a cold cloth on one side, and around 30 secs later, it exploded downward, with a great whoosh!...I don't believe it's the grind, as I believe the filter to be a bit more porous than my mini eSantos
I hope I didn't have to do this every morning...by the way, I agree with a previous post that the Infuze is pretty easy to clean...unless your hands are really large...have you tried making a full pot?...I've gone only to the 10 marker, as that is usually sufficient...I realize most vacs work best at full capacity, so I'll try that tomorrow..

Rob,

So far, I've made pots at the 10 level and the 8 level.  Is the pot relatively level?  I haven't bothered to time the process, maybe tomorrow.  I've noticed that after the water travels up, it just sits for a moment, then kinda makes a woosh sound and starts emptying.I'm a little disappointed that the pot steams up.  I'd like to watch the water rise into the cyclone.

Yeah, it's relatiely easy to clean.  I just prefer to put things in the dishwasher whenever I can, even after I hand wash them.  I picked up this thing about sanitation in Culinary School and then in the field.

Got to measure all of my equipment at some point,  10 cups with the B & D Infuse is a lot moe coffee that 10 cups with my Cappresso 500 and everything is more than my Alfi carafe  will hold.

I'm going to erase the markings on the B & D and market it as the WORLD'S LARGESTET ONE CUP COFFEE POT/CUP.  Gives new meaning to "Bottomless Cup".

Whatever hapened to the metric system in the US?  Let's start an informal poll:  I'm in favor.

Stuck again   -:(
Well, it happened again...after th 2 minute + up north, instead of an explosion down, it tricled, and stopped about 1/3 of the way...my grind was at my usual drip grind...coarser than i use for my minieSantos vac....also, I noticed that if you fill the lower carafe to 10 or above, and place the upper on, the water from below is pushed up through the tube into the coffee...a good 2 oz or more cold water infuzing (pardon the pun) the grounds...not good, I would think...next time, I'll start the heating process, wait for a few, then insert top ...tried that on my Santos once, and coffee shot everywhere...

Rob,

I think, perhaps, you have a lemon.  I just made a pot filled to the 4 cup mark with absolutely no problem. So far I've made 10 cups, 8 cups and 4 cups all without a hitch.

I'd suggest contacting B & D for advice.

Tom...I'm going to try a slightly coarser grind still.. ,,,for reference, 1 click to the right of the drip icon on my Solis Maestro (not the + model)
Does yours stay up north maybe 20-30 seconds AFTER the brewer light clicks off?...mine does, even when it works....

Rob,

I must be getting geekier in my old age, I actually timed yesterday's 8 cup pot:

5 min 07 sec:  most water in top chamber
6 min 33 sec:  shut off activated
7 Min  00 sec:  coffee begins to come down
9 min  00 sec:  all coffee om carafe.
