Subject: Experience with Bunn CDBCF-15 APS Auto Digital Airpot Coffee Brewer?

Hello All-

Anyone have experience with the Bunn commercial Airpot Brewer coffee makers?  I'm interested in the Digital model which claims to have better  "coffee extraction controlled with pre-infusion, Pulse Brew™ and digital temperature control." http://www.bunn.com/pages/commercl/1coffee/apstserv.html  This may be a little overkill, but I need a coffee maker that will brew about 80 oz. of coffee perhaps four of five times a week for my business (small recording studio), and I want a machine that makes *great* coffee.  I've currently been using the Melitta 6- cup manual pourover cone straight into an airpot (in pursuit of tasty coffee...and it does solicit many client compliments), but to even make 60 oz is a hassle, and sometimes clients can go through that pretty quickly.  I don't mind that it's plumbed in, and the hot water spout can replace the Zojirushi hot-water maker I currently use.  Any feedback on this, or suggestions on other models, is appreciated.

The most common complaint about the Bunn is the size of the filter basket. Some feel that it isnt deep enough.

Have you looked at the Fetco brewers? I've got a Pour Over model, electronic thermostat, and the DEEP "gourmet" filter basket, but no fancy Pre Infusion or pulse brewing.

They do have a line that does that though. Completly tweakable as far as I know, Brew Temp, pulse time etc.

Hi...
We use a previous model - non-digital & pourover - of this brewer, and they are wonderful. We brew directly into large thermal carafes or thermos containers. The one we use is several years old, and if it finally failed, we would sure look into another like it. It would certainly do what you ask of it. Plumbing in would be a good thing.

The elements recover so quickly that one could nearly brew continuously. We brew 2 'pots' back-to-back, and then it has to rest 5 minutes to recover.

The basket on it is commercial sized and the unit you referred to has a hot water spout for tea/cocoa drinkers. The basket is very large, and would easily accommodate more grounds than the ¾ cup we use per 64 oz contianer.

You might want to get out a ruler and measure, because these units are very tall to accommodate the carafes being brewed into them. It sure won't fit under any standard cabinets.
