I love this machine for the most part, but if you have one, you know how hinky the base is--the buttons are hard for girls with fake nails to use, etc. it's hard to clean, etc. But for all of that, I really do love it. BUT, it broke last night. I've had the machine for about 4 months and use it only on weekends, so it's not like it's had lots of use. I guess I could send it in under warranty, but I can't find the receipt and by the time I prepay shipping etc., it's just lots of trouble.

The machine will click on, but not stay on. If I stand there and hold the on button down, it will make the coffee just fine. The minute I release the pressure from the button, it clicks off. So, my hubby, the electrical/mechanical genius, says he can rig it so when you plug it in, it will stay on until you unplug it. I know all of the safety reasons for not doing it, but can it be done?

just a guess, as i don't have this machine or any experience with it, but i would say that there is some sort of safety trip that you are over riding by holding the button down: like when the toaster pops up and you try to push it back down immediately but it comes back up.

i'd send it back.
